December 2013, Returning Veterans open your eyes, for an ugly cruel surprise!! Look at the VA hospital website and see how you get no, zero informed choice in choosing a MD. No mugshot, no Med School listing and % rank in class, no # of formal complaints filed against, not even the number of years in practice!!
Why doesn't the national media report on this? They wouldn't be caught dead in such horrid VA hospitals with $M salaries and just a jawbone job!

How long will women wait,,, for men to give them true Equality?
I get lots of emails asking me to support equal pay,,, versus the embarrassingly low 77c/dollar for men. And to stop the rampant rape of women serving in our own military. And for equal access to the corporate glass ceiling executive jobs. And for more women, at least half like the population, in Congress.
But do women, most women really want true Equality under the law and socially? Most women i see seem to have other more trivial priorities,,,
And if most women are not going to demand it, don't expect the men in power to "be nice" and just give them true Equality anyway! Women are going to have to rise up, like Prohibition, and Fight for it.
Most women i see have very little fight in them,,, More of take the easy road, look for a sugar-daddy/millionaire be irrational and overly optimistic and Pollyannish,,, Scam guys for drinks or dinner and a movie,,, One night stand a guy just because of his looks,,, Shallow venal stuff, like men.

This consumer's review of last years model front door clothes dryer, Frigidaire Gallery commercial heavy duty,drum light: TAKES WAY TOO LONG TO DRY CLOTHES ON HOTTEST SETTING !!
Wish there were standards that apply to machines labeled 'commercial heavy duty' as the one we had for years and years before this one was very efficient at drying cotton clothes quickly.

I wanted a door window on this top loader but the wife won out. I should have held firm as it is hard to wait so long and expect clean clothes with so little water usage.
There is no timer of cycle selected and time remaining, as i wish there was.
The biggest plus is the lack of a central rotor. So big comforters fit.
We learned the hard way you can not use powdered clothes detergent, just liquid or the new pods of liquid. Too many of the clothes had undissolved powdered soap on them after a full cycle. I think this machine is too stingy on water , except on 'bulky loads', which i use most often if not 'quick loads'.

Why now is the time to quit both 'two party system' Republican Party and Democrat Party. Here are at least 20 good reasons:
1-The Democrat Party, like the Republican Party, has not stopped TORTURE at Guantanamo and elsewhere. Easy fix right,as it was one of our virtues never to engage in torture.
2-The Democrat Party, like the Republican Party, has not stopped RAPE by the thousands annually in our military, here in the USA , and overseas. All the CIC/POTUS has to do as 'Commander in Chief' is make one written order, and mean it. Easy.
3-The Democrat Party, like the Republican Party, does not mind the very toxic and poorly regulated last several years of TOXIC DRILLING to our DRINKING GROUND WATER SUPPLIES, like the Ogallala Aquifer, of FRACKING. Easy, just ban it until our scientists think of a clean way to do it. Or not do it at all. Same for class of poisons killing all the bees, and rubber stamp farm poisons. We want stronger Clean Water and Clean Air acts.
4-The Democrat Party, like the Republican Party, has not ended, in President Obama's second 4 year term, the exhorbitant BUSH TAX CUTS for the super-rich. Easy, just bring back the mid-1900s graduated taxes, with a huge luxury tax,,, and a gigantic ban on offshore accounts.
5-Here in California, the Democrat Party, like the Republican Party, has allowed our PUBLIC SCHOOLS to fall from among the best/top 3 in the USA to the bottom 3, and that is with a Democrat Governor and a Democrat super-majority in both state houses. Easy, fix it by taking all their pensions away,,, and if that does not work, flush both state houses. Get written pledges of new candidates they will fix it in 5yrs, or else.
6-The Democrat Party, like the Republican Party, is too soft on big campaign contributors like the corrupt and dangerous BANKS with their dangerous derivatives, c.d.swaps, massive fraud of nationwide home foreclosures.
7-The Democrat Party, like the Republican Party, is talking about cutting Social Security, now that Bill Moyer's tv show has leaked President Obama's secret wish to savage the Great Depression program.
8-The Democrat Party, like the Republican Party, has not stopped the Pebble Mine cold in Alaska to save the massive Alaskan salmon fishery in Bristol Bay and the Bering Sea. Reckless and irresponsible.
9-The Democrat Party, like the Republican Party, has done little to control HEALTH CARE costs, with just delays ,,, and talk about a 'public option' and 'single payer'. We need a faster fix.
10-The Democrat Party, like the Republican Party, seems to agree each year to NEVER ENDING FOREIGN WAR in the Middle East, that we have not raised taxes to afford and probably is making us many more enemies as terrorists in the future than any current body count.

The current Democrat 'super majority' rule of California is Failing, us citizens, and their platform. We dramatically dumped Governor Grey Davis for his incompetence and lie about deregulation being a good thing. Now We Californians must again lead the Nation, dump the Democrat Party, and try the Green Party.
How many terms ,,, how many decades!,,, of no significant progress with the Democrats do we have to wait for words forgotten and promises forgotten and leaders coasting for us in California to again lead the USA and do something bold ,like fire a sitting failure of a Governor? It is 2013. Are you waiting for 2020? 2025? 2050?
We can not wait as long as our elected leaders of President Obama, Senators Feinstein and Boxer, and Representative Pelosi that should be doing leading and fixing more of our collective problems.
This next election, we must take more responsibility, since our elected officials, Republicans and Democrats, refuse to act responsibly. We did it with Prop. 13 to slow property tax increases on primary residences. We did it to loudly fire Governor Grey Davis. We Californians need to step up , be responsible, lead the Nation again, and stop the Congress malaise and obstruction.
Please consider registering and voting Green Party, a more responsible hopeful option than this disappointing broken 2 party system.

Ca, CHP will pull over CDL charter and tour bus drivers and give them $700 fines for just one minor DOT logbook graph mistake, accidental or intentional. But bring evidence of a signifigant SF company forcing charter bus drivers to maintain 2 DOT logs, one true with over 10hrs/day driving and over 14hrs/day working,,, and one false,,, and the Ca. I was recently physically hostile sexually attacked by a V.A. doctor MD in California. Filed a 'formal complaint'. Got a call from Admin. And the MD is still working at this V.A. hospital. Shocking.

Don't wait to buy a spare battery on the web for $11 with free shipping, Amazon. I bought 3.
And a silicone rubber drop ins. case for $2.50.
My first SGS3 fried itself on the charger, in 3 months, and T-Mobile was very quick to grant free exchange. "How did it happen?" I plugged it in , and the power insert melted enough to be loose,,, and the t-mobile charger fried too. "No problem." ;)
I had the local store transfer all the data, but for the 5 different screen collections, which i did with both phones plugged in. The Capitola store at the Mall on 41st was a big help. Tho i lost my song files somewhere,,, sim card,,, memory card,,, t-mobile app for old lousy interface HTC My Touch.
T-Mobile stores don't sell the good charging cord with the obvious top plug symbol. The new ones have a wider plug with less wiggle potential. I have not been able to find a good cheap silicon rubber drop case either at any T-Mobile store.
Got on Value plan instead of usual to save $20/month.

What the USA can not afford is waiting for the lie that the super rich millionaires and super profitable large corporations paying little or lower rate or no taxes are making more jobs!
What Congress has know for decades since the 1970s is that we can no longer expect a healthy economy if the rich corporations are allowed to steal and lie about it while taking most of our pensions and retirement plans, ala United, IBM, GE, etc. It is well documented in the book i am now reading by Ellen E. Schultz "Retirement Heist". How in any conscience could any Congress-person since the 1970s silently allow such massive fraud and theft in the $Bs or $Ts now , just to make the super-rich corporations and executive individuals richer while hurting the vast majority of the American taxpayers and voters and legal citizens?! Shame, for shame !!
The top 2% or 10% or even 20% being lower percentage taxed does not make a stable robust competitive safe economy.
But that is the unreasonable shouted minority-party arch conservative Republican platform now. The losers. Sore losers, ready to crash the economy and the Nation.
What we can not afford is the 50-80$B in annual tax breaks to the oil industry, that has no pump price competition and rather owns oil producing states like Alaska and California, and probably soon the Dakotas.
What we can not and have not for decades been able to afford is a too complex and too unfair national tax code. When will Congress ever get the strong spine again to tackle such tough national problems?

Ca. EDD/Employment Development Department is so UNJUST that they let you appeal RULINGS before an Administrative Law Judge, but if you win, EDD just REVERSES THE JUDGES DECISION IN THEIR FAVOR !! What is the point of this 'judge" charade ?!

And the office at 2450 South Bascom, San Jose, Ca. that says "EDD Office" on the front door, really is not a EDD staffed office , but a 'work force' bunch of bad advice ("you don't have to file right away, you can file up to 18 months.") incompetents. Beware !! Such public fraud and deception.
The EDD will cut you benefits during a year of this 'great recession' with still very high true unemployment "because you have not worked enough this year" !! Hell, you are unemployed and looking for work, what do they expect that everyone can find a job in California during this 'great recession' ?!
So cruel by this once great , once proud State.

U.S. immigration policy and result in 2012. A young Chinese born man is given U.S. citizenship, when we legal born residents are less secure economically because our Congress is slothful and compromised by campaign contributions that do not benefit the Common Good. So the answer is to allow 11M illegal aliens to have their children be legal residents ,,, and give them cheap and near worthless U.S. citizenship!? Hell no.
I called Comcast cable for customer service and they sent this China-born young man with new U.S. citizenship.
He came into my carpeted apartment without the shoe covers that Comcast brags about on their tv commercials. I asked him "Where are the shoe covers?" i left them in the truck. "Well please go back and get them."
Comcast says, says they will give you 'credit' on your bloated overpriced , way to profitable bill if you complain about this. What they do is give you a couple or 3 pay per view channels for a month, tho they are not marked in your tv listing and you have to put a post-it on the tv to remind yourself that a tv station in the 400s or 500s is briefly not way overpriced.
The China-born young man and new Comcast employee was taking cables and components out of plastic bags and just dropping the plastic ties and bags on the carpet in my bedroom, instead of using the trash can. So i brought the trash can over to him from the corner of the room and asked him to "please use the trash can". He continued to litter my bedroom carpeted floor. I politely asked again "please use the trash can." What , no trash cans in China!? Just litter the countryside?
Now how does this help the U.S. and those of us out of work over a year because of the crash of 2008, due to Congress and a string of regressive Democrat and super-regressive Republican Presidents that a young man born in China can come to the USA and get a job ahead of a legal resident and do it so badly? Does this help China? Who wants to live in these second and third world countries, but the USa(Congress) has been giving tax breaks like company moving costs to go overseas are tax deductible for way too long; We can not and seemingly will not give jobs to those of us legally born here and there are not enough for even a small percentage of those that want to come here to be legal citizens and live with dual citizenship or not.
This hurts the legal resident middle class with stagnant wages or declining wages. In my industry an $18/hr bus driving job in California is now a $15/hr job, if you are lucky, even tho rents keep rising like the non-competitive price of gasoline every Spring. Housing purchase is less possible than in the 40s and 50s , because of deregulation and pandering to the rich corporations that are super profitable but do not pay any Federal taxes, not just multi-million paid yearly people that do not pay above a low ceiling on SSN taxes for Social Security. That makes absolutely no sense.
Yet we can not get Congress to act responsibly and more than slothfully. The President, according to a Bill Moyer's tv show, told someone before the election how he wants to go down in history as the person who severely cuts Social Security and hurts the working poor and shrinking still "middle class"! How did the media not tell us during the campaign about this!? How can a black man President be so hostile to the working poor?
He is a weak leader this first black President and tho very well educated and a good public speaker , seems to be more interested in benefiting the already rich and comfortable , too big to fail , national risk takers, the Wall Street bankers who helped him with campaign contributions get elected. He has not done what he said he would do , either specifically nor philosophically.
What if our first black President, very smart high IQ, well educated benefit of our society and earned wealthy, is only remembered for helping the super profitable and super rich and super risky to our Nation, not the Common Good, but the Wall Street bankers who just in 2008 almost collapsed the economy with the biggest white collar theft by corporations probably in the Nation's history? And that is all he is remembered for, that not one of these white collar corporations-criminals bankers and mortage faudsters and rating agency liars has gone to jail, tho they got Congress to take the main safety gate of Glass-Stegal from the Great Depression off the law books to the disadvantage of the Common Good?
The USA is in serious trouble, economically and politically. Stay in your home country and make it better if you can, even nightmare Mexico, as moving here may seem on the surface to be better, our living standard is still falling like our wages. Add a bloated risky stock market, corporations stealing private 'db' and 'dc' pensions and most public pensions are dangerously underfunded, a seriously flawed 401k retirement saving option, a dithering irresponsible Congress that won't simplify and make fair without personal 'rifleshots' and corporation 'loopholes' in the tax code, take away extravagant gifts like the 50-80 $Bs yearly in oil industry deductions that we clearly can not afford, and the low tax rate for stock profits that we clearly can not afford, and the Bush tax breaks for super profitable corporations and the rich that we never have been able to afford. Don't use Mail on my MacBook, but Chrome or Firefox and then Gmail or Hotmail, so had forgotten how to "send" a Draft without a visible "send" top button. Funny story.

Finally talked to a rep and he says " I don't know how to send a draft email from Apple Mail. Let me get Mail up and see. No, still can't figure it out. You will have to call someone else." An Apple store. In Silicon Valley. Recently.

Dumb choice by Apple: Apple requires there company sub-contracted campus shuttle bus drivers also have a SPAB/school bus drivers license in addition to a CDL/commercial drivers license. Don't they care or know, per recent ABC tv documentary, that SPAB drivers by greedy subcontractors are relatively underpaid compared to school district employees and statistically no safer than regular CDL drivers !?
If Apple really cared about safer subcontracted corporate shuttle bus drivers on their property/campuses and huge parking lots in distant spots, they would use the old UPS tool of the Smith System, linked with a lab video game class on safer driving choices(make it fun instead of the usual SPAB boring sleepy class with a hostile CHP officer), interspersed with actual behind the wheel driving testing. Any professional bus industry rep could tell them that.
But Apple seems to want to be unwise and foolish with its employees safety and lives and continue to insist , in a simple but different industry called transportation, that it wants 'safer' school bus licensed drivers with the usual CDLs, and from greedy subcontractors. My WGHS buddy's daughter just spun out-lost traction on Hwy 17 in light rain. BEWARE !!
Daily commuters may know this, but most of us think 17 after all the $$$ spent on a new median barricade , drainage system, and repaving over years and years of traffic construction delays, would be much safer.
Caltrans does not get reports from tow truck companies so how can they say they know the stats on collisions, accidents, and spin-outs/ loss of traction when they obviously have such incomplete data? Do they get all reports from the CHP as to probable cause, such as loss of traction/spin outs in light rain? Not just heavy rain hydroplaning.
Caltrans says they will only SAND when it SNOWS,,, not if it is just cold and BLACK ICE forms!! That is THE MOST DANGEROUS CONDITION ON A HIGH SPEED, 50MPH LIMIT, HIGHWAY !! When it snows at least most people know to slow down, but when it is cold and you are inside a heater-on warm car, most of us do not expect and do not see BLACK ICE , until it is too late.
That means $1000s in TOTALLY UNNECESSARY BODY SHOP WORK AND INCREASED INSURANCE COMPANY PREMIUM PAYMENTS !! Why doesn't the San Jose Mercury News paper take this political task on of finding out who,top to bottom of state govt., supports such a risky expensive policy as not sanding Ca.'s black ice highways like 17 and getting public pressure to get them to be more responsible and representative of the common good?

President Clinton, Democrat, signs away the most important lesson--ask any lawyer or stock broker or history professor-- of the Great Depression, the Glass-Stegal Act separating investment banks from savings banks. President Obama 'said' he would close Guantanamo's torture prison, but has not yet, even after 4 years and into his second term. And he has not stopped the Pebble Mine and other waiting environmental catastrophes. We can expect no more in so much less from 'Democrats'.(Green Party?)

Accepting Hwy 87 substandard construction N-S thru San Jose, to have to have it rebuilt when the elevated landfill freeway started sinking and sagging!!? Spending $$$$$M rushed in a month to repair the damaged eastern Bay Bridge after the 1989 earthquake, only to learn on completion that the bridge was built on now rotten wood pilings in the water and mud , and the 1936 bridge had to be torn down and replaced!!? The the replacement project has been a botched nightmare of incompetence costing untold $$$$M and extra years of still unfinished work !!

Caution!! California state highway agency, CalTrans, says they will not sand Highways like 17 if there is BLACK ICE !! Gosh, i would hate to think there was one responsible, hard working, good value bunch of civil servants , besides the DMV, in California.
CalTrans says they will only sand if it snows. Not if it rains and the pavement is slippery, by their own expensive electronic signage.
And certainly not when the danger is least noticed and most dangerous, when there is BLACK ICE.

It is so easy to go the the Ca. Sec. of State website and file as a "Green Party" new member to encourage the regressive Democrats to act more Progressive !!

Join and invigorate the Green Party. Get a Constitutional Amendment to ban all private money from all government elections in each and every state. Free digital tv and radio time instead on those community channels. Get another to overturn Citizens United if necessary.

It is best you file the first week or few days after ending employment, as the first week does not count and if you do wait more than a week, say 5-6 months, well that is unpaid wasted time. Max payment in ca. is $425/wk. Yikes.

Our President says that an assault weapon gun ban is the answer. What about all those millions of teenage boys alone without good male role models and playing VIOLENT VIDEO COMPUTER GAMES FOR HOURS AND HOURS EVERY DAY?
Oh, that would open the 'good parenting vs bad parenting' can of worms.

Hey, the poor ostracized kid in Newtown had no close good male role models at school as teachers or highly involved good adult caring males with his life. I read all the teachers were female;Big mistake. Even my mediocre elem. had 2 fine male school teachers.
Heck adults, have you not seen some of these very violent games that other parents kids are allowed to play and doesn't it disturb you ,,,creep you out!,,, a little about how gory bloody cruel unjustly violent this USA and worldwide boy obsession is? And look what happens when young boys alone play extremely violent video computer games!!
In my day in the 50s we neighborhood boys would play cowboys and indians with rubber suction cup tipped arrows and bb gun rifles with the bb's and mechanism removed for just the pop. Dodge ball really hurt. And throwing dirt clods. Or ice snowballs. But we also played 'hide and seek' a lot. And 'baseball' and 'basketball' and 'football' and even imaginary-baseball baseball slow-mo. Those were people peer interactive games, not this alone in a bedroom, unsupervised by good adult male role models, HUGE AND VERY PROFITABLE BUSINESS OF GETTING OUR BOYS AND YOUNG MEN ADDICTED TO VIOLENT VIDEO COMPUTER GAMES,,,for profit.

Men who don't get manicures and especially pedicures for a total of usually $25 DON'T KNOW WHAT THEY ARE MISSING !!
I go to this little plain place in Campbell on Hamilton just west of San Tomas. Nothing fancy. $25, manicure and pedicure, for about 45 minutes to an hour.
But to have a young beautiful woman soak your feet in a warm bubble bath, trim your toenails and toe cuticles, massage different stuff on your toe nails, block sand your sole callouses off,,, AND massage your shins calfs and feet with lots of lotion, and towel off, is JUST PLAIN wonderful !! Most men out there, you don't know what you are missing!!
And they don't get upset when you tell them how good they are at their jobs and how beautiful they are !

Recommend food storage, frig/freezer, the Rubbermaid and Premier line with clear BPA-safe containers and red rubber rim lids,,,ESPECIALLY FOR ARTHRITIC / WEAK / SENIORS.
We do not microwave cook in them, as that is not recommended, but we do microwave warm.
Mom is 94 and we have tried glass food containers,,,"too heavy". The lime,food preserve, green plastic containers,,,"i can't see what food is in there". Maybe i can use them? And the EasyFindLid line,"no". A whole big bag of those to give away,,, Or the Rubbermaid,Lock-it line with 4-fold down lids ,,,"i can't open these or close these, thanks anyway". She still loves to cook. Returned the Lock-it line for refund.
This has taken months, years, many brands and many styles. i have a full grocery bag of Ziplock store-bought light plastic food containers to give away,,,"i can't open this,,,anymore",,, (and doesn't close it completely either).
As i said , we use Pyrex covered bowls in various sizes to microwave COOK in, so have not had any problems yet with cracking in the Premier line. They do hold a lot of water in the "top rack-only" of the finished dishwasher cycle. Don't think i would buy the black rubber version if i had the choice of red or black rubber lid rims.
Also found a store back East ,,,everythingrubbermaidstore.com,,,( or something close to that),,, that ships individual large Rubbermaid- Premier line food containers,,, and larger sets than the 12 piece only set sold on Rubbermaid website. Not cheap shipping. But an option. Very hard to find in stores like suggested "try Target or Walmart or ,,,bla bla bla".

Congrats to ABC for doing the recent tv expose on how BAD SCHOOL BUS DRIVERS are !! Much needed, especially to too trusting parents.
Not only do they speed with Your Children too often,,, but they run red lights and RxR / railroad tracks WITHOUT STOPPING.
Parents assume the transport of their children is of a high importance to their public school district. Back when i was driving a 99 passenger school bus WITHOUT A CHAPERONE and without any seat belts for any of the kids, and a EMR handicap van with the disabled kids triple strapped in, it was an eye opener job! Have you ever attended a school board meeting? What a farce!
I worked in San Diego and for a subcontractor for a school district. So the school district did not have to pay us good wages and benefits and after taking a huge skim of profits, neither did the subcontractor. Low wages, unpaid split shift jobs attract ,,,who? Women and low skill men. I was driving the best charter bus company new vehicles at night and on weekends,,, and working driving school kids on workdays. Back then San Diego had the smoothest and most uncrowded freeways in Ca. and was a cheap great place to live for 20?s and 30?s young adults !!
My first day with 99 seats scared the heck out of me as to who would protect the kid/s in the back of the bus? With the small van , i personally strapped and seat belted in every child and had a great group of kids who were mostly very well behaved and probably heavily medicated. But i often saw my fellow subcontractor drivers run railroad tracks without stopping first,,, and speeding. Often !!
The CHP class for the license was strict but not that hard. And we seldom saw a manager from the subcontractor, tho i bet he was secretly following us around ,maybe, to check on us. Maybe not.
That is why i think every parent who has his kid bused should secretly follow that bus at least once a school year. That is not too much to ask of parents. And why? Because you probably have a very low wage, no benefits, stressed out by kids yelling, person driving your very valuable kid !
And school buses , tho bright in color, are not 'bright' in design compared to adult buses/ coaches. I would much rather have my kid as a passenger in a use 1980s MCI or used VanHool than any new school bus , without A/C and without strong comfy seats AND SEAT BELTS. Plus , a used coach might be cheaper and have an emergency toilet in back, a good thing to have with a bunch of kids,,, and no other adult. Yellow school buses have inferior suspensions and inferior brakes to a new ,say, VanHool coach of 40 or 45ft. Yes, school buses are expensive , but compare a crash in a typical school bus vs a used coach. My guess is there is better survive-ability in the new or used coach,especially with seat belts that you can now order for coaches. You put your kid in any vehicle or yellow school bus WITHOUT ANY SEAT BELTS !? Are you crazy !?
That is something that always troubled me, why no one volunteered or took low pay to be the second adult on every school bus,,, besides the driver. As a parent, you certainly don't expect a low paid or even a high paid school district driver to drive and also make sure you kid does not get beaten up by the always present resident bully,,, do you!?
That is such a huge risk, as a bunch of screaming and yelling and opening emergency exit windows on narrow busy streets can unnerve most professional drivers. And if you don't think this misbehavior happens regularly, just call Stanford and ask how misbehaving the fraternities and sororities there are when they charter buses to go to the bar on the coast to act like hooligans, as they open the buses emergency exit windows on hwy 92 and risk an oncoming truck hitting the window and spraying broken glass at people inside the bus !! With elementary and middle school students the risks are much greater, yet there is no 'hazard pay' in school bus driving and you can make much more money getting tips and driving tour buses or city double decker tour buses. Or most truck jobs with full benefits. So don't think for a second these days with most school districts unwilling to pay for the best drivers as direct employees and choosing subcontractors of whatever repute instead that automatically your kids are safe.
Yes, i use to call the CHP and tell them that i saw a school bus driver run a red light or run a set of railroad tracks. But back in the 70s and even today in SoCal they are too busy to seem to care. Only up here in NorCal do i have the CHP trained to politely take my calls on drunk drivers, speeders and racers, bloody accidents, debris everywhere damaging many passing cars behind 2 to multi-car collisions, and people who die or fall asleep at the wheel and just drive off into the bushes,,,
The biggest charter bus company in SF, the now bankrupt 'CoachAmerica', use to send unlicensed drivers to do school district jobs requiring a school bus drivers license/SPAB. I got out of one such run by talking privately with the school principal about her legal liability.
Parents are too trusting.
Parents should verify,,, not just get in line.
