Suggestion: Bought 4 Debbie Meyer Green plastic refrigerator bread boxes on HSN/(Amazon). No more MOLDY Bread, or Cheese, or Fruits and Vegetables!! Amazing!!
Her website lists Sellers but can not buy direct from her. Had one loaf of bread in the frig for over 3 MONTHS with No Mold!! Use 3 for bread, white and whole grain and English muffins. And one for Cheeses. Could use 2 more bread size boxes for veg and fruit instead of eating in 2 days...The pint and quart cube sizes are good for leftovers. Tried her Green Bags but like the big bread boxes much Better!! Tried Pyrex glass as too heavy, Rubbermaid red lip lids as easy open, and 4 snap lids brand, etc...Hate throwing away moldy food after only a week in the big cheap IKEA Frig(free delivery up 2 stair flights)!
#1.Kirkland 2 ply TOILET PAPER.
ITEM #585 578.
NOT RECOMMENDED cuz it is too thin and fragile. They use to carry Cottonelle TP, so much better, and maybe they (SSF,ca.) will again.
There is a cheaper brand if price is most important to you.
#2, Angus Steak & Cheese SLIDERS,
item #1013569.
16 count.
The pictured lettuce is not included.
For me the Patty is too thin.
NOT RECOMMENDED.
#3, Organic Bean Rice & Cheese BURRITOS,
item #724733.
8 count.
Are very bland tasting. I added hot sauce. Still...
NOT RECOMMENDED.
#4, Kinder's Philly Cheese steak SANDWICH,
8 count.
Can't find item #.
The picture shows much more beef than I found; Wish there was more beef in the thick bun.
NOT RECOMMEND.
#5, Royal Asia's Sea Salt & Pepper CALAMARI, Handcrafted.
Ican't find item #.
It says "Rings & Tentacles" pictured, but I got odd bits and few rings or tentacles.
NOT RECOMMEND.
#6, bulk GREEN TEA, Kirkland.
Sencha & Matcha blend.
Item # 100 212 5.
Count, 100.
The tea is too weak!!
Each mesh bag is in a plastic packet, so too much plastic trash.
And the mesh teabags leak tea powder on the table.
NOT RECOMMENDED.
#7, in store CHICKEN BAKE.
Item # 1201906.
Count,.
Problem is this PICTURE looks Exactly like the Food Counter product.
But as the CS guy said, "No way is it the same!"
SO Costco is aware!
I found half air and less than half the filling!
This is Costco shameful!!
Will someone please shake a finger at this buyer?!!
NOT RECOMMENDED.
#8, Aqua Star, Coconut Breaded, Butterfly SHRIMP,
Item# 33 57 456,
16-20 count/pound.
Cooking method: deep fry.
The Problem with this item is the shrimp are too small to be butterflied/split in half.
So the shrimp meat is too thin, maybe 1/4".
And they don't cook well in Costco's $99 Phillips Air Fryer!
NOT RECOMMENDED.
#9,. SPANAKOPITA, item #440586.
Generally I like the hordeorves, but these have very little filling for so much thick flaky pastry on each side. Double the filling please. As is, ho hum, NOT RECOMMENDED.
#10, Cuisine Adventures MINI QUICHES, 2 flavors, item# 444808.
The 2 pie quiches Costco sells are ok, crust could be better.
And I hoped these minis had a better tasting pie crust, but it's just ok.
I drip a drop of Catsup or Ranch dressing on top of each, some fresh cracked pepper...
Still another just-ok Costco item...
NOT liked that much or RECOMMENDED. Sorry, tasted better brands.
#11, sorry there are so Many iffy Costco items!
Blount King Crab and Corn CHOWDER, item#12 68 43 3.
I had high hopes, but not many corn kernels and only 1 tiny dice-size bite of crab. Ingredients also list an East Coast crab, Cancer something binomial. Had to use lots of salt and pepper, waved very hot and let cool.
Don't offer this to in-laws!!
NOT RECOMMENDED.
#12, I can't find an item #, but am pretty sure I bought this at Costco...
AQUA STAR, PANKO BREADED, POPCORN SHRIMP, from China,,, frozen, about ?3 lbs.
It says to oil deep fry or pan fry. So I tried my Phillips new air fryer.
Didn't work; Guess it must be oil deep fried, and I don't own a deep fryer.
So I'm going to say "PASS".
#13, again can't find small hidden item#, but most likely bought at Costco...
CREPINI AMERICA'S CREPE, SWEET CHEESE CREPES.
10 heavily plastic individually wrapped, net total 26 oz.
Ok, I thought these were small, low on flavor. Fresh tasty crepes are so fun n easy to make. So I would say "PASS".
#14, item#1021876 ,Pierre Breaded Whole Breast Fillet, Raw Stuffed CHICKEN BREASTS, Cordon Bleu.
6 ham and cheese stuffed breasts in individual plastic.
The picture on the box LOOKS tasty, golden brown breaded, lot of cheese, some ham.
BUT when you open a package, it looks like a non- uniform, dark brown glob of mud!! I've cooked 2 and 4 at a time and 5 min before cooking time ends, I see most of the cheese leaking out and burning!
This Chicken definitely Needs factory BRINING please please please overnight to improve taste and tenderness!!
So color, shape, and metal tray (versus aluminum foil) cooking are 3 Big problems.
Don't you hate it when the box picture looks nothing like the product!?
NOT RECOMMENDED.
#15,DON MIGUEL EGG AND SAUSAGE BREAKFAST BURRITOS.
ok, but so easy to make better on your own with some Jimmy Dean's cooked sausage, eggs, and flour tortillas. Glad eggs were "cage free" tho! I say "PASS".
#16, Scott's EZ SEED, with fertilizer and growth medium. Wish I had returned All 10 cube containers to Costco!!
I've bought 10 on these at Costco for San Jose clay soils and Santa Cruz sandy soils.
Did not work, at all!
Not a robust product. $$$$ expensive.
Even called Scott's for advice.
NOT RECOMMEND.
#17, the ROTISSERIE CHICKEN is sometimes under-cooked, tastes bad and I start to ralph and has a dark red leg bone.
I always take the chicken back when I see blood. They accept & credit, no question, obviously.
Maybe the Public Health Dept will get involved, S.M.Co. probably not. They really need 5degree safer cooking temps! Be careful and cut open thigh bone and or leg bone before eating 1 bite!
#18, item#81 80 73,
KS TORTILINNI, 5 CHEESEs.
I don't see or taste any cheese.
NOT RECOMMENDED.
#19, item#119713,
LOBSTER RAVIOLI.
The ravs are large in width but thin. Maybe 1/4-1/8" of lobster filing and it is vastly itsy bitsy specks. Plus the frozen ravs too easily come apart in cold to boiling water in less than the suggested cooking time! I called and a Buyer said "they tasted fine initially."...
NOT RECOMMENDED.
#20, Tempted by that huge end-cap frig case of sushi...
So tried item#13 02 56 3, OKAMI SUSHI.
2 six packs taped together, so I bought 2 bundles.
I said I was Tempted! ;))
The rice surround is
way too hard, maybe machine made. The filling is not flavorful enough for me.
NOT RECOMMENDED.
#21,I like ramen soup and use to buy those cheap packages by the armful, add egg uncracked or opened, boil, and eat w tiny dry seasoning packet. Sometime added chicken hearts and gizzards. Yum.
So tried the Spicy ramen, item # 11 36 28 1, NONGSHIM SHIN NOODLESOUP CUP GOURMET SPICY, 12 count, on sale $3 off, at Costco and only use half the dry seasoning packet. "OK".
#22,Then bought item
#12 53 76, NONGSHIM UDON NOODLE SOUP, those thick white noodles, tempting picture, usually $14.99 for 6.
Big box, lots of packaging.
A small dry and small wet seasoning packet. Added 2 cracked eggs on opposite sides. Yum, but way way way TOO EXPENSIVE, even on SALE at $3 off, that's $2 each on sale!
NOT RECOMMENDED.
#23, item #2, Kirkland WHOLE MILK, homogenized and pasteurized, 2 gallon each jugs.
Last pair only had a week left before "use by" date, and that's Not long enough! So it sold being too old?
I suspect it is not properly heat pasteurized because it goes bad so fast still Sealed on or Before "use by" date!
NOT RECOMMENDED. (Have been pouring a gallon on milk down the drain weekly.)
NOTE:19Aug2019, called Costco Corp office and they admitted a problem from about Nov2018 to June2019 with their milk supplier!
8 months!
"Finally the 'supplier' found the problem."
(TG)
#24, item #73 95 67, the SNAPDRAGON VIETNAMESE PHO , rice noodles. I like the taste, careful to not overcook and get mushy. But there is a Lot of plastic packaging, 6 plastic disposable bowls and lids (not pictured) inside cardboard box. I cook in a Pyrex lidded bowl. That's too much landfill over packaged waste, for me. "PASS".
#25, item #12 92 781, WINPLUS TYPE S SOLAR SHADE ,3 piece sunshade set, jumbo size windshield and 2 side window (too tiny) suction cups shades.
Sometimes I just don't understand Costco Buyers,,, with all that buying Power,,,and such low standards! Yes we want "good value" but these 2 side shades are mini Cooper size in a "Jumbo" vs "Regular" package!! Here is what they should have done: "Ok, we will buy this product but, you must make for a few pennies more the side shades "Jumbo" too, for SUVs and van drivers and bus windows! These tiny side window shades are Totally Unacceptable. Deal?"
#26, item# 13 01 84 2, MONTEREY GOURMET FOODS, CREAMY SEAFOOD RIGATONI, WITH SHRIMP AND LOBSTER.
I defrosted first.
Directions say to put the rigatoni in tray, then sauce and shredded cheese, bread crumbs. Wave for 6 min. The results were just ok. If I bought again, I would boil cook the rigatoni. There were some tiny shrimp. I tasted lobster on bite 12. So maybe drop the "lobster" and add more tiny shrimp.
NOT RECOMMENDED.
#27, item #214 722,
GERM-X ORIGINAL HAND SANITIZER, liquid, either big pump bottles or package of mini containers. Leaves
too sticky a residue!
Label does Not list all ingredients, so NOT RECOMMENDED.
#28, item # ??,
RANA TAGLIATELLE GRILLED CHICKEN & PICATA SAUCE.
Microwave-able, with big black plastic tub to cook in, but rather not use plastic,,, so used lidded Pyrex bowl, as usual.
Directions say to layer dry pasta, then frig thawed sauce, then chicken. Naturally, I modified it: boiled pasta in salted water, then put cooked pasta now larger and softer on bottom, then chicken rectangles , and sauce on top. Waved 8-9 minutes, let cool a bit, added fresh ground pepper and a little sea salt, plated, and,,, Enjoyed! ;)
Two dinners, ample chicken and sauce.
Plastic: 4 pouches and one unnecessary tub, recyclable??
RECOMMENDED, my way!! ;)
#29,item #??,
PASTA PRIMA ORGANIC GRILLED CHICKEN & MOZZARELLA RAVIOLI.
32 oz. of 2 hard packages.
First, the ravs are large and made of thick dough with very little filling, so not plump but rather flat looking.
On cooking only one Rav fell apart in the salted boiling water, so the ravs are well joined. How do they taste? Not so good. Very little Moz cheese. The chicken pieces are small as a pencil top erasure not dice and should have been brined for more tenderness and flavor. I used a good quality sauce but after two servings had to give all the rest to "John".
NOT RECOMMENDED.
I don't rave, much, so here's:
#30, item #11 76 95 4, GRANDEUR HOSPITALITY BATH TOWEL 6 PACK, 100% COTTON, 30"X54" or 2'6"x4'6". Cost about $24 or
$4 each about, thick quality.
I also buy the WASHCLOTHS and HANDTOWELS, both great quality and value.
I rotate them all, HANDTOWELS first in the bath, then the kitchen (after washings), then to the car for Repel/Windex cleaning the car windows.
Nothing like clean clear car windows!
Washcloths cycle to from bath to kitchen to car and LAST FOR YEARS!
(Enough Gushing?)
