"Mom" is not automatically Capitalized on Web by big bad Microsoft's Hotmail, Outlook or email service

So little Respect.
And spell-check is only "dad", not Dad.
That's just plain Sad,

Johnny Carson's "Tonight Show" studio live in afternoon vs late, after dinner cold tv

My sister use to live in Pomona-Diamond Bar way out East and daily commute drive to teach public elementary school in poor transient Huntington Park, next to dangerous Watts in central ugly sprawling LA.  She got us tickets. We both had done our homework early and kept 3.5GPAs in a good white middle school in the Bay Area so we could watch Johnny late late, Friday night only.

The line was crowded and long and , silly me, in the middle of the day or afternoon!
We were both sooo excited, finally getting to see Johnny "live" after all those years, and hard studying.
Someone came out and talked to the audience and said stuff.
There was an "applause" sign!! or was that another live show she took me too,,,
The set looked so worn and tacky vs processed tv.
Finally Johnny came out to huge applause,  people were so excited to see this Big Famous Celebrity in person, some coming from far far far away.
The monologue started and my older sister and I smiled at each other; this was our personal reward for all those hard years...

Of morning chores, after school chores in the suburbs, homework lots and lots, dinner, and after dinner, more single chores ,,, and weekend chores , posted and rotating on the frig, the home central w Home Ec. teacher Mom and a great family building strategy !! We all worked hard and contributed to make the family work. We all felt valued, setting the table, clearing the table,  taking out the trash, push mowing the lawns on the weekends, washing and vacuuming the 2 cars. Dad work a very hard professional 12 hr/day job,,, every day,,, for 40 years,,, loving every minute of his long and ww2 heroic and successful 95yrs life. That is I say good parenting!!

Well one guy, way up in the high overhanging upper scary right balcony , from Ohio, I think, got sooo excited he yelled out "Hey, Johnny, we drove from Ohio!!" and Mr. Carson just lost it."Well, that was Ohio."

They immediately cut to a commercial.
Johnny was PISSED OFF !!

A crowd of people mobbed the desk to pamper a very upset Mr. Carson. You could hear him going on and on, complaining about this excited fan from Ohio just speaking out of turn.
Maybe they do that a lot in Ohio.

It took a lot of fussing and talking to calm Mr. Carson down.  A very long time.   He did not seem to enjoy his work or his live fan audience. And that was when I stopped watching "The tonight show",,, and most late night tv shows.

First was the big taped daytime, shown so late lie.

Then I saw it was just an act.  Hard work. Not fun. And the Star was not having fun and enjoying his massive success life or handling super success well. I was so disappointed. But not my sister, who still likes the fantasy, unjudged, escape away from the horrible druggery of awful wasteful careless LAUSD.

Sorry, johnny, you failed me.

SF's tour bus company Greyline/SuperSighteeing just settled a 8 major labor violations of hourly pay theft and overtime theft and forcing drivers to falsift DOT logbooks and work too many hours,,, for small percentage , Unjust crime-coverup 'settlement' by a spineless , white collar crime tolerant Federal judge

I am talking about the EMPLOYER, WHITE COLLAR THEFT of over $10,000/yr/driver!!
The forging of federal DOT documents.
The looking the other way by the CHP.
And the spineless Federal judge allowed gag order cover up of 8 Major"class action lawsuit substantiated crimes" and less than $4000/employee Settlement!!
Shocking what Corporate criminals and their $300/hr dirty money lawyers get away with in the USA and SF.

They also have been using Delancy Street former hard drug addicts as tour bus drivers.
I was told one driver was caught still using hard drugs while driving.
And another Delancy Street former hard drug addict-tour bus driver, i was told, was found dead at home.

Where is the public safety from SF govt!?

And how do dumb, dropout, former hard drug users get Ca. DMV CDL commercial driver's licenses, that nowadays are harder to get than your average college course final exam!? And why are these basic blue collar licences so hard to get in California these days!?

And why has ABC and CBS and NBC not investigated this and informed us yet!?

"Light rain", Friday,12 December 2014 at 1am, and Caltrans closes a Major Highway,101N and S, without ANY WARNING SIGNS !!

Can Caltrans and Ca. Govt be any more incompetent! ?

There should have been a CHP cruiser with flashing lights and a Big Sign at Hiway 85 intersection that "101 is closed ahead at Willow Road, flooding".

Maybe "Take 280 instead".
But no, Caltrans just keeps on wasting our time and gasoline!!

And Caltrans did this before,,, and recently.
Close a Major Freeway,101, and not use any of the new Expensive electronic signs or just the usual roadside tripod sign.

No apology.
No "we will try to do better."

SFPD and car thief in My Car!="F" grade

Last month, November 2014,  I found a car burglar IN my car! , inside the company employee parking lot!, a lot that is gated and fenced with security video cams!?
I asked him "What are you doing in my car!?", while I called SFPD 911.
I SHOULD HAVE TAKEN HIS PICTURE.

But I did not know how careless SFPD is about crime like car theft.

Still no Police Report Case Number! And a supervising officer called me to ask ,"What went so wrong when 3 patrol cars showed in less than 10minutes parking in the intersection? "
They parked in the intersection and did NOT enter the open lot where I was still confronting the Asian, pro ,middle aged, bad acne face scars middle aged guy in my Acura!!

I had to leave the CRIMINAL next to my car and walk outside the parking lot to INVITE THE OFFICERS INSIDE TO DO THEIR JOB AND ARREST THE CAR JACKER.
But these SFPD officers were not interested in arresting the carjacker nor following the getaway car, as the sargent told me "You got your car back. Problem solved."!!

After the carjacker ran away I got just one of these many cruisers full of cops to do their job and looking inside the lot on foot for the car thief!! Too late, too little, not motivated.
Yes I was glad to not loose my car, but $950 glove box pc "ecm" was damaged and the criminal left his tool bag in the car.
The sargent asked if I wanted him to throw it away , instead of keep it as evidence!!
This sargent said there was no way to fingerprint a (smooth) "textured steering wheel leather". Liar.
In summary, in SF do NOT expect the SFPD to try to catch criminals ; They just drive their cruisers around.

If you are moving to NorCal and the SFBayArea, be aware that Caltrain is excellent train commuter service from SF down the peninsula to SanJosey and even Gilroy !!

So basically you can live anywhere near that line, even visitors, and easily comfortably cleanly and efficiently get to Sanford in Palo Alto or Mt. View or live in cheap Morgan Hill and work in super-expensive SanFran.

The BART system, in a tube under the Bay, to the near and far East Bay cities is a far inferior system, with design problems and overpaid labor strike problems that doesn't even go 80mph. Not as reliable.

Our freeways are only 4x4 lanes, if that, unlike 8x8 and 11x11 lanes of SoCal, and so are maxed out at commute times, especially with wasteful inefficient diamond lanes.

Plus our summer gasoline is much more expensive than the 47 other states, supposedly cleaner burning, if you want to believe That!  California is the only state without a $2B/yr oil extraction tax!

Wednesday, November 19, 2014

Caltrain is the best, excellent train service to San Francisco from Gilroy and San Jose, but Trip Advisor won't mention it !!

Just " Hotels, Restaurants, Attractions, Flights , Vacation Rentals."

Thus many visitors do not know you can stay at many fine hotels and motels along the Caltrain route, between Hwy 101 and the pre-highway main boulevard south El Camino Real.  From SF to San Jose and even south to Gilroy !!

There is also good county bus service on this old major boulevard from many fine and less expensive hotels and motels in southward San Mateo County to SF.

If you are RV-ing, and like a cheaper ocean setting, there are trailer parks in Pacifica. Then you can drive to city of Colma  BART crummy train service, with station signs to small to see and station announcements you can't hear,,, to get to SF.  Or drive to the much better Caltrain  and one of their lots.

For those without or with a car, Caltrain-ing from the south to SF makes sense and is an easy way to get to Stanford U. from SF.  Or the new 49er football "Levi" stadium in the south bay's city of Santa Clara.

If you still insist on staying in SF, I recommend all the cheap, free parking motels around Lombard street in the rich and safer Cow Hollow-Marina neighborhood. Versus the Tenderloin, west of Union Square. Best hostel is at Fort Mason and should be bigger.  Many cheap national chains like Days Inn, and Super 8 and ABV Inn and many others are there for just over or under $100, depending on Summer-peak season-coldest fog rates or better weather in less crowded and cheaper shoulder seasons of Spring, and second choice Fall, or even slow quiet city-rinsed clean for a change Winter.

So travelers to and from SF, check out CALTRAIN, even tho some big famous travel websites, like Trip Advisor, won't even mention it !!

Other recommendations?
2- Beware of travel middlemen posing as destination operators with tour buses and tour bus driver employees, such as Viator.   You should and want to pick the quality and safety level of your actual tour operator, not leave it to a deceptive middlemen company.

3-Beware of over 30 years warning by respected tv news show, 60 minutes, of "sale sale sale" SF camera stores selling defective Nikons and Canons, etc.  This is gold rush "wild west" behavior and good camera stores are in SF , if not so obvious in Fisherman's Wharf, Chinatown,  and Union Square.

4-Clean public toilets are ,for decades ,very hard to find.  Many SF businesses will hid their restroom or make you buy sonething to use it !!  Not very civilized for a tiny town of 820,000 that depends on top business of tourism !!  So look for the self cleaning, french toilets, green kiosks ,36 of them on the sidewalks. Mayor Willy Brown's "triple cost trajedy".

5- regular taxis are very hard to find in Sf, for decades ,as the City has gone against the visitor and for the few cab owners in allowing only too few cabs. There are a few new internet cab companies , that don't have to payola hotel doormen, so you can look online for those companies trying at least to meet the huge, much larger demand than supply. "Pirate" limos , illegally solicting biz by driver vs office can be cheap and quick, if you agree before on "total price" .  Make sure the limo driver actually says "total price of x".

6- Hourly Wage theft and tip theft by employers is rampant in SF.  We just lost our good independent paper, the free Bay Guardian. So tip , in cash, and only directly, vs "on my bill". The Governor, State Legislature lawmakers and State Judiciary think it is only massive "white collar crime", to be ignored.

7- Our SF and bay area drinking water, extremely high quality, is piped in over 170 miles from Yosemite National Park.  And we are in our 3rd year of drought, in the only state with "Mediterranean weather" where in much of the state it does not rain in the Summer. So respect and enjoy it.

8- Many are renting Mansions or deluxe city condos with fab views on VRBO or AIRBNB, instead of just a very overpriced hotel room. This Summer I met 3 elderly women who rented a Marina, north edge, water front, Luxury mansion with 3 lavish bedrooms, kitchen, dining room, living room , and ample yards "for less than the price of 3 motel6 rooms and just a couple blocks from the Safeway grocery store or popular restaurants of Chestnut street." They were so overjoyed.  There are many luxury homes to rent, short or longer term in SF and Pacific Grove and all up and down the coast.like Cayucos artist colony near Morro Bay and the hot wineries of the Santa Inez-Santa Barbara county !!

9- Of about 8 million in the sfbayarea, many, thousands weekend in the Spring Summer and Autumn in Lake Tahoe above 6000' going by car east on 80E or by train to Truckee. Gambing on the nevada, small "n" side , and lots of good restaurants , mtn views, fresh air, outdoor exercise in speedboats or jetskis or horse rides or mtn biking, invented in southbay. Thousands have cabins and condos and go up friday afternoon and come back sunday afternoon and evening.  Or drive up North on the Lost Coast to touristy Mendocino town or rental home isoated Sea Ranch.  Or they go to Monterey Bay beaches , Pacific Grove and Santa Cruz with its Boardwalk and friday summer free rock beach concerts or uke concerts , to get away from the concentration of great white sharks off the Golden Gate , the "red triangle".

10- the calously complained about "homeless" are mostly the legally insane kick out of more than adequate state mental hospitals, like Sonoma's, by a 1970 Rep. Governor, a huge mistake costing cities much more in valuable fire and police time, soup kitchens, and Tenderloin flop apartments. A Dem. Gov. then removed the popular , well funtioning home gas and electricity price cap, sending the state crashing to Enron dvd documented ruin, from best public schools and public roads to worst. Get educated and bear to watch 'Enron', 'Gold Fever,2012', and 'wild parrots of sf' dvds. Read Smith's excellent 'SF is burning' about our totally incompetent corrupt Mayor and an illegal incompetent shoot-on-sight Army General during 1906 earthquake and fire.

11-Oh, and don't wait 3 hrs at the end of the cable car line , Summers, at Market street or Aquatic Park; instead use less crowded California street cable car line. So frustrating having the city union cable car drivers take their 30-45min breaks at line ends and shut down All loading, without $90k relief drivers!! So get day pass and get on at Union Square or California st. line. Wait 3hrs in line?!!! No way.
Oh, and book pier 33, Hornblower Cruises (also pier 1 booze dinnner or dance cruises) to go to ALCATRAZ prison, if you must, WEEKS OR MONTHS IN ADVANCE. Beach Blanket Babylon, the longest running usa live theatre 40 years of great song comedy costumes is much more fun.
Walk or bicycle across the art deco Golden Gate,,, and you will never ever forget it. 100th Birthday is 2037 Spring, mid May !! Walking tours? Check out 'donation 'price of excellent SF City Guides, good brochure and website. Foreign language microbus tour? Best is Great Pacific and not that expensive. Movie location tour bus? Craig and his dvd are best but there is an ok copycat company. Red light runners are a big problem so always look both ways crossing streets until the city gets all much safer countdown yellow stop lights and night visible street sign paint.

12-unsafe neighborhoods?
Not nearly enough walking cops.
First, the SE quarter,"3rd st.", is car break-in central, very poor very high crime. Nothing worth risking your life for in entire SE quarter. Don't go south of the ballpark, other than temporary ballpark lots.

Also , west of Union Square is Tenderloin , often not marked on maps, has gangs shooting tourists for fun. The state needs to jail and deport all gang members involved in a single gang murder.

And west of City Hall, behind the Symphony,  Opera and Ballet is the remodeled ghetto , the Western Addition. Lots of iPhone sidewalk theft, poverty and high crime.  Hayes Valley has been cleaned up and continues to prosper with popular restaurants and daytime shops. Be very careful at night !!  Extreme lack of enough on foot patrol police.

13- I like Scoma's at pier 47 for seafood at Fisherman's Wharf, and beautiful Franciscan restaurant at pier 43, and Hard Rock or Bubba Gumps or top left restaurant at pier 39.
I like warm 'extrasour sourdough bread' over cold regular sourdough anyday. Costco sells Alfaro at some stores. I like Pacific Ocean sunsets on the beach with a good beer and calamari at Beach Chalet, upstairs from the famous fab murals and mosaics. I use Zagat red rectangular dining guide to find new places, ask any hotel front desk to see their copy. Also Tablehopper foodie local website. Fun irish bars way out Geary street and good Russian food even further out Geary , try the bakery.  A second chinatown on Clement street with lots of good restaurants. And fun Haight , upper and lower, street.  Upper Polk and Union st. and Chestnut st. for the neighborhood shopping streets w all the locals. And upper Filmore st. too in Pacific Heights.   The overlook at Broadway x Lyon, massive Mansions with yards for miles thru Presidio Heights.  Baker beach in classy Sea Cliff hood. Fort Point under GG bridge is better view than small south vista lot!!
Marin headlands road, Hawk Hill stunning car or bike views and super Pt. Bonita ww2 gunsite views, so unknown and under appreciated. Muir Woods only in the morning , early, and walk up right side of creek and back on left as trail is not wide enough for afternoon mob. And signage to education is designed that direction. Too much poison oak? Buy Tecnu soap at CVS / Walgreens to skip the 2 week itchy ugly rash.
Evening views of city from Treasure Island, but watch out for all the anarchists living there! Muni city bus drivers are scary if in car or on foot !

14- Tadich's in the FiDi is oldest restaurant.
The tiny Mama's on Washington Square seems to be most popular for bfast.
And Tony's pizza on Washington Park seems to be the thin crust fav.
I go to Costco for $10 large combo pizza, but counter is inside and not outside like SSF-airport and other locations, so you need to be a member. If I was on sidewalk I would run for you,,, ;)
Four Seas has a good lunch dim sum selection with scads of choices. Will try Empress again.
Like clam chowder at back door of Ferry bldg with "bay" Sacramento River views, average depth 12ft.
Still looking for good cheap sushi in overpriced town.

Trip Advisor has Terrible member and customer service:no phone, no email, no live chat, and very very hard to edit your own reviews

So no wonder there are so many mistakes ,,, like the other company reviews in with Your Company reviews,,, and out of date reviews that seem to be impossible for writer to delete.

Sorry all.
That is the way they want it !!

Only NPS rangers can give guided tours or lectures in Muir Woods. Commercial tour bus guides are Forbidden !!

Must now pay to enter Muir Woods.
Most visitors take the self guided map, walk up Right side of Redwood Creek, and cross one of 4 bridges to return downstream on the Left side.

No collecting whatsoever!!
Beware of poison oak, and or buy "Tecnu" soap.
Please do not toss coins in the creek.
No littering please.

No yelling or screaming, as it scares away the native Wild animals; Enjoy the morning quiet. ;)

These trees use to grow 400ft tall, and even now, way up the Lost Coast at 379ft are the tallest in the world.

96% have been logged, as termites won't eat redwood lumber for over 20years. They use to be abundant and dirt cheap; Now a 2in x 8in redwood lumber plank costs over $4/ft for top grade.  Yes, only 4% of the NorCal coast redwood remains, some in state and national parks , but lots on private land ,,, still being logged, even clearcut logging.

A hundred feet  longer than a football field TALL, but how wide A TREE?
The ones in MW are just young adults, less than half size.
So get 10 adult friends to line up, 4 on West and 6 on East, straight lines facing each other, with fingers touching in each separate STRAIGHT line. (Very hard for adults to do, for some reason,,,)
24ft on West and 36 ft on East are about maximum widths for coastal lumber tree, S. semperviren and the mtn. non-lumber tree, S. dendron giganteum, like the beauties in the Mariposa Grove at the SW gate to Yosemite. ( I invented this 2 line demo. Great at cocktail parties, tailgate parties, graduation parties,PUBLIC SCHOOL PLAYGROUNDS so you can teach  diameter, radius and circumference,,, have them "measure" 400ft horizontally, ,, and quinciera 15 parties,,,;).

T-Mobile: lousy 4G data service iN SF and IN Silicon Valley !!

Have tried 2G,4zG, and 5G rate plans, but just  S  L  O  W .
Page loading takes F O R E V E R !! 30-60-90 seconds !?
The CSRs and Techs are 98% honest and helpful and SO POLITE.   Only a few time wasting BS-ers that need retraining.
You will get very little tech help in the sell, sell, sell Stores, not even a phone security app , and maybe only your contacts transferred.  Suggest you jeep all your phone contacts on Hotmail/Gmail and do not let T-Mobile touch/move them!! Every time in 3 years they have lost contacts and contaminated mine with duplications/6 copies !! Pathetic.
Have one expert tech /store.
And I am sooo tired of that same horrid onhold tune.
Have Samsung SG3 and is nigh impossible to quickly retrieve last e-mail put in trash.
Page Before , in lower right, is also too slow or just impossible.
Took over 30minutes to talk to Manila customer service last time; No call-back option !!
When will we customers see any significant improvement ?!
Best fitting power cord is the Samsung for Samsung SG3.
Also $30 two-three day back case battery by Anker is Wonderful, no daily recharging.

Costco shoppers: Please try Langer's o.j. gallons, PASTEURIZED so they don't go sour for weeks/months in the pantry

I use to buy the frozen cans of oj and mix as needed, keeping 12-24 cans in the freezer.
Each batch would usually turn sour before the end of the week!

Now I buy Langer oj and mango juice by the gallon, use zero limited freezer space, and have never had either go sour even after months ! I only refrigerate one gallon at a time. They rest is in the pantry.

The SFBayArea stores are starting to phase it out !!

HELP !!

The San Jose Costco store manager didn't even know it was pasteurized and wouldn't sour!

Please buy LOTS OF LANGER'S, ,,
and keep it on all the Costco shelves !!

Thank you !

NatWest doesn't give a darn about Olivia Stagg's lost student rail card in SF !!

Reported finding it on the Napa tour bus.

NatWest says "our computers can't help you contact Olivia in SF today so she can get her lost valid student BritRail card back quickly. "

Yikes.

Today 11 September 2014 is the 13th anniversary of our second negligent, unprepared "pearl harbor"

We must never allow an irresponsible negligent third !!

Trip Advisor is too hard to email or give feedback.

The biz is customer reviews, but dang little customer service!

Let's ridicule silly city laws: In SSF/South San Francisco of San Mateo County (not that 'other' sf) it is the law to have speed bumps in gas stations.

Ha!
(Sorry, a pathetic poor and probably incompetent city with a next county copy name.
Yep, it allowed Leonadakis family owned bus company SFOAirporter to dump raw sewage for months into the parking lot storm drain to sfbay. No more L. "memorials"/honors, please!!
Sooo incompetent.)

Frisco's foody secret: double tanker trucks of cottonseed oil delivered to SE quarter, near 26th street x Minnesota. Are you sure it unhealthy but profitable is not going into any SF restaurants?

Dare to "NBC investigates" and all the too young to remember, "no msg" sf restaurant signs, food bloggers with all the expensive meal stories. Shallow, as the bay.

Shouldn't such overpriced , extremely profitable retail food be basically Healthy ? More healthy ?

The city-county public health dept is a joke. Seen dead rat on sf restaurant kitchen floor.

Just wondering,,,

Brown UPS truck commercial: duhhh, but no a/c, interior not airhosed/waterhosed day after day! dusty dirty, roof is not translucent, engine is design dinosaur with manual trany?!, some thin tires less than Lincoln penny head when I drove in winter rains,,,

In 80s and 90s you had to sight memorize all packages labels and mentally route all. Very difficult.

Nowadays they have computer "bricks".

Drivers tell me Co. is still tossing loads on versus nightly rough sort, and Teamsters never stopped it. Never.

So don't get mushy on new brown paint.

At least now drivers can buy stock in the private company they work for, but not before.

FOOD NETWORK website stinks with low functionality !!

Let's say you are watching D3, and after the restaurant segment the name and city are not mentioned or labeled, just Guy's mug, so you go to the Food Network,,, but it is not synched so that when the tv show "on" right now is prominently listed.

No, just a mess.
Compare to Netflix:total linkage and functionality.

Murphy's in Honolulu is "on", but what and where was the fish taco place before !?
Sooo frustrating.

Food Network,,,get organized !!
Your website is as messy as a messy kitchen.

Thursday, July 17, 2014

All traffic lights should have countdown yellow lights !!

It's the 21st Century, America !!
Are you living in the Past,,,
Or safety conscious !?

Friday, June 27, 2014

It rained in the South Bay early Thursday morning, about 2am, 26 June 20014. We Californians are in our third year of drought. But it never ever rains in the SFBayArea South Bay in late June!! (American media says this is not news.)

So there i was, late at night, driving from SJ to Bgame, about 2am thursday morning,,, and it is ,,, raining !!
"ABC news."
It is raining in the South Bay!
Yeah, so what.
"CBS news."
It is Raining in the South Bay!
Yeah, yeah.

So the public wants happy faces and infotainment, eh?

Sunday, June 15, 2014

This has been the prolonged dirtiest air seasons, Autumn Winter Spring 2013-2014, in the 50 years I have lived in the SFBayArea.

The college degreed "tv weathermen" in their expensive suits and expensive salarymen jobs can bloviate about "the daily high temps".

Where oh where are the Outstanding teaching Weathermen of old, the Old Prof of L.A. and the Fast Talker of SFBayArea who cared so much to professionally teach the general public about something so common and yet so vitally important as "the weather".

Now there are lots of liars and historical whitewashers to bury any meaning from mear numbers and temperatures, like the not that long ago Autumn 3 days in a row in SF of 100F and one day of 104F! They have hid and probably destroyed the photos of the Golden Gate Bridge dramatically sagging under the weight of just 100,000s of 50th Birthday celebrants on that lovely Spring May 1987 day, without cars. Mayor Feinstein had quick left the small party she had called to the bridge.
And the professional news and amateur videos of the October 1989, 7.1R, Santa Cruz-centered, 45second earthquake.

Just ask someone or YouTube and see if they deny "104F in SF".

How dirty , and dangerous to all our healths, have these prolonged 3 seasons of dirty air been?

Many "officials" and "professionals" and politicians obviously don't want us to know.

Monday, June 09, 2014

Your Acura(Honda) dealer, like mine in SillyCons Valley, may not tell you how often to service your A/C. But my independent mechanic recommends "Every 2 years to mainly protect your hard working compressor that needs an internal oil flush by the $5000 automatic evacuate-lube-refill machine."

Acura dealer service writer said "it's a 2 hour job" too, but i watched my independent mechanic do it in under an hour.  So how does the auto industry get to publish and refer to such Wrong extended service job hours? Oh, yeah, the corrupted state Ca. legislature.

Democrats and Republicans, the slightly lesser of 2 evil choices game.  Aren't we lucky in Ca.?

So i asked the independent mechanic, "Is it unreasonable for any and all bus passengers to expect comfortable interior temps, under 70F, when it is 110F and 120F in the Shade!, or 130F outside."  Yes,near impossible.
Not likely.

Who is gonna tell Costco their chocolate cookies are not browned, but doughy and under_cooked??

oops

Saturday, May 17, 2014

Don't be fooled by charter bus companies that claim there is any signifigant actual safety benefit to their drivers having a "SPAB"/school pupil activity bus license. UPS trains on the Smith System, which is focused on driver behind the wheel choices. I had a SPAB for Taylor Bus biz to subcontract work from the San Diego City Public Schools in the 1970s. I drove 99 passenger UNCHAPERONED bus and EMR handicapped minibus. Yes, there was lots of class time but mainly the SPAB test is whether you can MEMORIZE 7 FULL PAGES OF A FULL BUS PRE-TRIP INSPECTION, without looking at the 7 pages. Kinda stupid, huh?

This is not behind the wheel behavior betterment, but what did the seldom seen and under paid and under staffed MECHANICs MISS DOUBLE CHECKING.   And a lot of California charter bus companies have "deferred maintenance" agendas to save money and or inadequately trained and funded mechanics.

So from a 40 year industry insider, do not be fooled by the PR hoopla about "our drivers are all SPAB.".

The Taylor SPAB subcontractor drivers who were so underpaid and no benefits vs school district drivers ,,, often ran railroad tracks.
And the SouthBay company that brags about SPAB has a long history of driver accidents and drivers falling asleep on the highway with passengers due to charter bus drivers working,,, too many underpaid hours.

If California charter bus companies were really serious about inproving driver BEHIND THE WHEEL SAFETY , then like UPS they would all teach the Smith System.  And pay overtime after 8hrs. It is very easy to ask a charter bus company "Do you pay overtime to your bus drivers? " and "Have your charter bus drivers learned real safe driver improvement with the Smith System that UPS uses?"

Not some 7page memorization farce.

Hint : Are you tired of your shampoo and conditioner bottles plugging up in the shower caddy? LEAVE THEM OPEN. Don't close and even a gentle squeeze when you put them up will clear the valve.

Hey,,, this could be on GMA !
;)

Shocked by clearly over-development allowed by California Coastal Commission of our close by and fond memories 1950s-60s smelting beach , MARTIN'S BEACH. Oh, by a super-rich guy, figures. What a shameful SFBayArea loss !!

How did the local news miss this environmental abuse locally?
Big story.
Big SFBayArea loss.

And now, it seems , no more 'public access'.

When will we collectively tire of the super-rich behaving like selfish Medieval lords ?

Google's Gmail has lost many of my "labeled" and supposedly saved emails; Microsoft's Hotmail has not. Why wasn't i told this ,,, in pc kindergarten!?

Go to Gmail forum and see how many people are Very upset with Google for emails they can no longer find in their Gmail account.

YIKES !!

Widows who have been left with lots of Rifles Shotguns and Pistols to dispose of ,,, Should first contact the NRA for their 50% of current value buying program. It is much better than the local gun shop's 10-20% maximum usually. Or some local shister with FFL firearms license who Says he is "giving you top dollar".

Dad left Mom with about 35 pistols and rifles and shotguns , as he was an avid pheasant, duck , goose, and especially deer hunter all his long and happy life in Central California. He bought an elk rifle only to be cheated as an out-of-state hunter by guides in Oregon, Wyoming, and Colorado, legally!!

Mom did not know what to do. There was the local FFL shister in San Jose who reads the Obituaries and calls the widows, giving them new 100$ but only 10% of the guns real current value in San Jose, and making a Forture, cheating and lying to poor widows!
We asked two local gun shops and they would only appraise for free 2 rifles, then $10-25 each!  And could we trust their appraisals,,,?

Finally, since Dad was a life member of the NRA, we called them for advice. They gave us the name of a guy way down south who wanted photos and descriptions, but was too busy to come and see them/appraise in person just yet.  He said NRA would offer 50% and that was much better than any gun shop!  Even take all the bullets and reloading machine stuff!!  Dad had some rifles from WW2,like an almost new M-1 carbine with leather scabbard and cloth strap. He also had collected a Navy Colt from after the Civil War with original elephant ivory grips, that we found out we could not sell in California.  We would have to remove and keep the ivory grips and just sell the old pistol.
We could never get the NRA rep to visit, being so busy on both sides. But we certainly learned a lot and how not to be fleeced by all the usual suspects!

Next, i found an article in the Jan 2014 issue of Field and Stream magazine, listing 5 gun auctions they recommended, on page 64.  I call the appraiser advertising on the NRA's Gunauction.com website and decided he was too gruff and unpleasant. Then looked at Gunbroker.com.  Still have not checked out Gunsamerica.com or Gunsinternational.com or Armslist, but do know to stay away from 'collectors' and their mania for perfection.  And brokers-middlemen !!

How do you box to ship a rifle or shotgun?  Still have not found that answer.

A San Jose company will buy all the bullets, boxes and boxes.
The local police were not much help, tho they occasionally buy and destroy guns for $50-100. We wanted someone else to enjoy the out-of-doors and Protect It,,, and hunt a long and happy life like dear old Dad. Destroying a pheasant shotgun, always locked in a gun cabinet, is not going to change the massive American war weapons profit bloody machine!
How does the buyer find a local FFL to make the sale legal, if necessary, in their state?
How do you set a secret reserve price, a minimum price, and get a fair price in the end for all of dear old Dad's prized hunting guns?

The NRA was far from perfect in this sad and rushed-Mom's are like that- situation, but they did help some and maybe they can help you.  Their appraisals were a little low on the most valuable rifles, but 40% is still much better than 10%!!

There are lots of legal thieves and opportunists out there trying to rip you off !!

Who politician better than our current Democrat Party Governor Jerry "moonbeam" Brown ,who went to a Seminary college, to reopen the early 70s closed STATE MENTAL HOSPITALS and recommit all the kicked to the sidewalk, euphemistically called "homeless" , very mentally ill in California who sleep on the STREETS OF SAN FRANCISCO, and make expensive tent cities and hidden slums that many cities have to constantly clean out.

Would California be better if we had never closed most of the perfectly adequate State Mental Hospitals?
Yes.

Was it a huge mistake for the Governor back then to say he was going to "save the state budget some money, and besides it was not the state's responsibility to care for all the thousands of mentally ill in California." Their families, like most, probably could not. Were most cities to open insane asylums?
HUGE MISTAKE.

And why did none of the churches or charities back then stage huge protests and marches to Sacramento to stop this Cruel and cost shift to cities dumb idea??
I don't remember one. Shame on all that did not.

What a black day for California, to close Agnews and sell the land to Sun Microsystems.  And close Sonoma Mental Hospital to thousands of the very mentally ill now wandering around our cities , causing crime, spreading diseases, and getting sick on the streets so that fire departments are constantly helping these sick people to a hospital ER.

Does Democrat Governor ,second time around, Jerry Brown, son of Governor Pat Brown, have the heart, mind, soul, and guts to do all the good he can do for the State before his term expires?
Big if,,,

2014 and Womens Tennis as uneven and bad as it is it takes very little to win, compared to the much higher quality of men's tennis play. Therefore SHAME on tv announcers Pam Shriver and Mary Jo Fernandez and even Chris Evert for their flawed assessments of talent , industrial strength corporate brown-nosing, and being proven flabbergasted so Wrong yestetday in favoring Serena Williams over Ana Ivanovic, or any contender to the usually favored previous winner, called BIAS !! Shame shame shame on you all.

Calling Serena Williams the "greatest server ever" and "the greatest greatest player ever" says more about tv sports announcers institutional bias and favoritism and the horribly low quality of play in physical and mental fitness , sportsmanship, and poor hitmaking by current women's tennis, than by how little it has taken both Serena and Venus to win against fearful and constantly slurred opponents.

The excessive and embarassing brown-nosing of the Williams sisters by sports tv announcers, with both their games as bad and non-competitive as they are in lousy Womens Tennis needs to be stopped by viewers and tv corp owners asap. Making excuses for unfit , lack of determination, wild balls, errant play with "her bad back" is unprofessional and unfair biased favoritism BS !!

Shame on you  sports tv announcers as you were so proven wrong yesterday by Ana's win at the Aus Open 2014.
