15 Feb. 2011, Glad to hear that female condoms will be more available in the future

After a very active single sex life, i am amazed that women let men make most of the contraceptive choices in bed and do not want to share the responsibility. Why do men have to always have the male condom? How few American women have the confidence to go into a drug store and buy a bunch of condoms? We are not talking 'sex and the city', but real life.

It is well known, at least by men, that male condoms tend to roll off ,,,or tear.  And if that is the primary contraception, the couple could be in BIG TROUBLE.

Why do women dislike the female condom or seem to not prefer it, when it is MORE COMFORTABLE for the male, and MUCH LESS LIKELY TO ROLL OFF or TEAR than the male condom?  Men and women should DEMAND sex education classes in high school or junior high school.

So why do most American women still not share the responsibility of taking the pill, but instead most American women hide the pill disc in their underwear drawer-also "off limits" to lovers-and try to remember themselves to take the pill daily vs sharing this responsibility with their sexual partner?

I miss the 'sponge' too and wish we consumers had MORE CHOICES to prevent unwanted pregnancies and stds.  What are other well and highly educated, advanced cultures, civilized countries like western Europe doing ??
