If LAUREL CURVE HWY17 is such an ACCIDENT HOT SPOT,,,Every Autumn rain and Winter rain/snow Season,,,Then WHY is CALTRANS NOT SANDING HWY 17 and LAUREL CURVE !!?

The SAN JOSE MERCURY NEWS is asleep on this subject of accident hot spots and easy remedies in the SouthBay, as usual! Thanks for decades of being a weak/silent public advocate.

Every Ca. STATE REPRESENTATIVE AND SENATOR on that busy commute route from Monterey Bay and Santa Cruz to San Josey and Sillycons Valley is asleep at their desk by not solving this easily by SANDING SANDING SANDING with all the cheap readily available local sand. Heck, the whole mtn. area is built on sand and there are gigantic sand quarries near by.

The CHP should post a anonymous list on line every day on its website of all the accidents by dots on a map for the entire state, different colors for collisions and spin outs w/o car to car contact.  LAUREL CURVE is an accident hot spot, the local CHP officer just told me.

And the tow truck drivers know this, like Rossi Tow out of Santa Cruz that says LAUREL CURVE "is our turf/territory" and an accident hot spot.  So why are they keeping this anonymous statistical  information secret from us about all the unnecessary accidents and spin outs that happen on HWY 17,,, AND LAUREL CURVE !!??

There is even a retire sheriff living at the outside of LAUREL CURVE!! and for charity and an avocation he stands outside his house in the bushes and listens in his yellow rain gear to ALL THE ACCIDENTS THAT ALMOST HAPPEN AND DO HAPPEN ,,, AT 'infamous Laurel Curve', he tells me.  So why, with all this information, and as a retired sheriff , can't he be the eye witness that proves LAUREL CURVE AND HWY 17 MUST MUST MUST BE SANDED DAILY IN AUTUMN AND WINTER !! "Danger."

And CALTRANS,,, naturally they are asleep at the wheel,,, of the sand spreader trucks parked somewhere nearby.  Why is it so hard for Caltrans to be proactive? Do we need a State Senate hearing to get Caltrans to do anything right !?  Can't we just fire all of Caltrans and hire by competitive bidding another more professional private highway maintenance outfit,yearly or for 5 year bids !?

Why, when California now has a DEMOCRAT GOVERNOR and SUPER MAJORITY IN BOTH HOUSES OF THE STATE LEGISLATURE,,, is so little getting done !?
