Will someone, anyone, please wake up our sleepy lazy dolittle Congress and get them or the U.S. Supreme Court to outlaw such idiocy and allowing a company to own the knowledge of what 'G-C-T-A' organic molecule sequence controls what human organ/process/trait, since now 20% of the human genetic map is in private hands.
Would you allow a business to own the knowledge that your arm is the three main bones of the humerus connected to the radius and ulna forearm bones ?? This is more Capitalism gone amuck with Republican-worshipped 'Deregulation', now proven to be a total failure by the USA fiscal and financial crisis spreading internationally.
Unless this is stopped and overturned quickly it will stall human progress and medical advances that could save thousands and millions in the future. Yes, i know there are political and religious quacks of many persuasions who want us to return to the hopeless 600 years of the Dark Ages of civilization.
